To answer the question we can almost hear you getting ready to ask -
There is not a lot of difference between the Knight (3rd from the right) and the Pawn on the far right.
They are about the same size and design.
However
In this top view you can see that the Knight has the crossed swords insignis of the cavalry on the top of his hat
while the Pawn wears a standard infantryman's hat.
Since this set was done in a Bust format, the designer apparently felt that there was no way to incorporate a horse.
